Abstract
Cattle were examined for restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs) at the myogenic bmyf gene locus. TaqI, PvuII, BstEII, and HindIII were used to analyze allele frequencies and linkage equilibrium. Strong disequilibrium was found between two Taql polymorphisms and other RFLPs. Polymorphisms at this locus may prove useful in determining the role played by bmyf in the development and characteristics of muscle in cattle.
