Abstract

In order to smoothly transit the IPv4 internet to IPv6, some related network transiting mechanisms[1] were developed, which basically put emphasize on the co-existence of IPv4 and IPv6 network while transiting. However, the most significant problem preventing common user from trying and adopting IPv6 is that many kind of now-existing software take no support of IPv6, especially those used in some special area which has been used and tested for years. This brings a rather high cost and risk in the software transiting. In this paper, the author tries to propose a new mechanism to solve this problem, which makes the net-layer protocol transparent to the application layer software by modifying the socket calls.
