Abstract
Abstract— This paper reports on a novel theoretical approach to generate irregular dot patterns at the back of the light guide of a backlight unit. By applying this approach to a light guide with a diffuser film, optical distortion is minimized and the luminance uniformity of the backlight is greatly improved.
