Abstract
This paper presents a metamaterial loading approach to obtain the subwavelength resonances of the square slotted microstrip patch antenna. The multiple split ring resonator (MSRR) is directly connected to the square slotted microstrip patch antenna. Under loading condition, the antenna resonates at two frequency bands 5.07 GHz and 6.55 GHz respectively. The electrical size of the antenna at lower resonant frequency is 0.338 λ × 0.169 λ.
