Abstract

This paper introduces the principle and design method of X-band frequency synthesizer which was developed based on fractional divider technology. The solution uses fractional-N PLL chip ADF4156 as the important hardware support, which solved the contradiction between the high phase detecting frequency and the high frequency resolution in the frequency synthesizer. The test results show that the synthesizer achieves both high resolution ratio and very low phase noise performance. In the paper, combined with circuit design, simulation, debugging and testing process, the key problems in ADF4156's application are summarized, and the solutions proved viable and effective are given.
