Abstract

Abstract A 1‐(x‐hydroxyphenyl)‐naphthalene can be obtained by reaction between phenol and diazotized 1‐aminonaphthalene or from the Zn double salt of naphthalene‐1‐diazonium chloride on heating with phenol, but its methyl ether is different from 1‐(4‐methoxyphenyl)‐naphthalene. Thus it is probably 1‐(2‐hydroxyphenyl)‐naphthalene.
