A new species and a new record of eriophyid mites (Acari: Eriophyidae) from grasses in Austria

Abstract

A new species of eriophyid mite, Paraphytoptus moliniae Skoracka, n. sp. inhabiting purple moorgrass, Molinia coerulea (L.) Moench (Poaceae), is described from Austria. This is the first species of the genus Paraphytoptus described from grass. A new host plant, alpine bluegrass, Poa alpina L. (Poaceae), for Aculus sayanicus Skoracka is recorded. Aculus sayanicus was described from Arshan in southern Russia and is recorded in Europe for the first time.
