Abstract

The essential oil obtained from the needles of Juniperus communis L. of Greek origin was subjected to GC/MS analysis. Fifty six compounds were identified accounting for more than 96% of the oil. The major component was α-pinene (41.25%), while the predominant minor constituents were sabinene (17.4%), limonene (4.2%), terpinen-4-ol (2.7%), myrcene (2.6%) and β-pinene (2.0%).
