Local economic development by community business

The contribution of community business to local economic development is being increasingly recognised. In Scotland's largest Region, Strathclyde, there are already 35 community businesses trading. The companies — community owned, community controlled and non-profit distributing – are almost exclusively based in 'deprived' areas.
