Abstract

Bovine fetal serum was investigated by cellulose acetate electrophoresis, immunoelectrophoresis, immunodiffusion and single radial immunodiffusion.A continuous increase of the total serum proteins was observed, it reached 4.2g/dl at birth.Significant changes of serum proteins were observed, especially α-glob, by cellulose acetate electrophoresis in the course of gestation age.Twelve precipitation lines were always observed in the fetal serum by immunoelectrophoresis, seven of 12 lines were identified.Serum transferrin and α2-macroglobulin were also studied.IgG was detected from 6 (16%) of 37 fetal sera. IgG1 was the predominant immunoglobulin in the sera of IgG detected samples.
