Abstract
The electrolytic capacitors with small eqivalent series resistance (ESR) have been developed in our company for output filter circuits of switching power supplies. This achievement in decreasing ESR was accomplished by the development of new electrolyte. The impeadance of this electrolytic capacitors are almost equal to that of multi layer ceramic capacitors at high frequencies. The temperature characteristics and the DC bias characteristics of this capacitors are better than that of multi layer ceramic capacitors. The withstanding characteristics against inrush-current and surge voltage of this capacitors are better than that of tantalum capacitors, since the electrolyte of this capacitors has self-healing capability of aluminum oxide as well as other electrolytic capacitors.
