Ziehl-Neelsen Staining method for Acid Fast Bacilli: A Method for Oat Cell Carcinoma

Abstract

A significant finding made during a routine examination of Ziehl-Neelsen-stained slide for acid fast bacilli for tuberculosis is presented. Microscopic examination revealed the presence of cell morphotypes consistent with oat cell carcinoma which were very well demonstrated by this method. A spare slide was stained by papanicolauo method which confirmed the diagnosis.
