Abstract

This bibliometric study explores the vast research body on technology management with the novel method of topic models. It identifies 20 topics and their coverage across major journals in the field as well as their influence among each other via citations. A multidimensional framework of technology management synthesizes the 20 topics along the dimensions of development process, firm and environment and time. Major influential topics are alliances, university, national and international transfer of knowledge, while others such as diffusion and adoption are rather isolated. The analysis covers publications in the 37 most relevant journals from 1990 to 2012. In total 3048 abstracts were analyzed.
