Abstract
Several representatives of the primitive oribatid mite species Adelphacarus sellnicki Grandjean (Oribatida: Adelphacaridae) were discovered in a laboratory storage area in Piracicaba, São Paulo, Brazil; this is the first record of the species from the western hemisphere. Thousands of specimens of Gordialycus cf. tuzetae Coineau, Fize and Delamare Deboutteville (Endeostigmata: Nematalycidae) were extracted by flotation from fine beach sand on Ilha Comprida, São Paulo, Brazil; this is only the second record of the genus from South America.
