Abstract
A study was conducted to evaluate the potential and consequences of anticipated transients without scram (ATWS) events for Babcock and Wilcox nuclear power plants. The results of this study are typical of transient conditions expected for Babcock and Wilcox 145-, 177-, and 205-fuel assembly plants. It is concluded that ATWS events, with a probability of occurrence greater than 10/sup -7/ per reactor year per plant, have consequences within the acceptable safety limits established for these studies and, as such, represent no undue risk to the public health and safety. Since this report is completely revised, individual revisions are not cited.
