Empirical Research on the Relationship between Technological Structure of Export and RMB Exchange Rate

The relationship between RMB exchange rate changes and export technological structure is the focus since China has allowed the yuan to rise. The relationship between RMB exchange rate changes and export technological structure will be analyzed with the model of VAR model, during RMB depreciation and appreciation. This study shows that exchange rate changes have obvious influences on the proportions of high-tech products and low-technology products are affected during RMB depreciation, while there are insignificant effects during RMB appreciation. There are asymmetrical changes of export technological structure according to RMB depreciation and appreciation. As a result, the yuan should not substantially appreciate further.
