Abstract

Installation of an advanced computer and control and optimization system at Shell Oil Inc.'s Tebone (La.) NGL fractionation plant has improved plant operations by increasing yield of the more valuable products and reducing process-energy consumption. Described here are the process, project objectives, instrumentation upgrade, computer hardware and software, and advanced control and optimization techniques employed.
