Abstract

A procedure is presented for determining signal timing plans for a signalized intersection during the peak period when vehicle arrivals are time-dependent. It considers each arm of the intersection as an infinite dam and then extends some of the existing results to evaluate queue lengths. An optimization model is presented and a heuristic searching approach is then used for determining the signal timing plans
