Abstract

This paper analyzes the special sections (such as large longitudinal slope, fog areas, etc) road alignment parameters and vehicle operation data on the highways of western mountainous areas (such as Xi Han highway, LuoFu highway etc). With the Body-Vehicle-Road system dynamics theory, a model of the highway speed cognitive evaluation system which, based on the driver safety cognition, is evaluated for the safety speed of different vehicles driving on Sichuan NaQian highway special sections. Results show that the highway speed cognitive evaluation system can make the results of vehicle safety speed simulation with the real station close to the degree of 90% and above. So the system can be used in the design stage and the construction stage of highway safety evaluation, which can play an important role in reducing design costs, time, and improving road safety operation.
