Abstract
A simple device for injecting a sample from a sealed glass tube into a gas chromatograph is described. The sealed glass tube is equipped with a thin hemispheric break-seal of a special design, which is then fitted to the injector by a sliding O-ring seal. By a sliding motion of the sample tube, the break-seal is penetrated and shattered by a centrally mounted carrier gas inlet tube, and the sample is swept directly into the gas stream. The injector can be made of any convenient material; a metal-free, Teflon-and-glass design is described.
