Abstract

Calcitonin antagonizes the calcium-mobilizing action of parathyroid hormone in organ cultures of bone and in the intact animal. We have investigated its effect on the initial shift of calcium into bone produced by PTH and have made a quantitative study of the interaction of the two hormones in the standard Munson PTH assay.
