Objective To observe the clinical efficacy on chronic pelvic inflammation treated with integrative Chinese and western medicine. Methods 312 cases of chronic pelvic inflammation were randomized into control group and treatment group,156 cases in each one.In control group, intravenous drip of metronidazole and antibiotics was administered on the 1st day of menstruation, lasting 7 days, once or twice per day;1 menstruation made 1 course of treatment, continuously for 3 courses. In treatment group, the treatment was same as that in control group during menstruation. But,additionally, retention enema treatment with Chinese herbs and microwave irradiation to the abdomen were applied in non-menstrual period. The clinical efficacy was observed in two groups. Results The total effective rate was 81.41% in control group and was 100% in treatment group, indicating significant difference in comparison(P0.01).Conclusion The comprehensive therapy of integration of Chinese and western medicine has significant efficacy on chronic pelvic inflammation and it is economical and safe and deserves to be promoted in clinical application.
