Abstract
BASEstar: The Integration Platform for a CIM Environment provides insight into how one computer vendor utilizes a software platform to create an architecture and an environment whereby manufacturers can now realize integration, the I in CIM, across the Levels of Manufacturing and throughout the enterprise. The focus is on the BASEstar Integration Platform, a subset of the Network Application Services (NAS) architecture. Relative to the manufacturing environment, its features and functions will be described in detail including data collection, data management, distribute processing and application integration, and it will be demonstrated how the BASEstar Integration Platform fills the information gap which has existed since the concept of CIM was introduced.
