ECONOMIC APPRAISAL OF CERTAIN HIGHWAY PROJECTS IN INDIA

Abstract

The appraisal of an highway project involves consideration of engineering, managerial, financial, and economic aspects. The economic analysis aids in establishing economic feasibility, the selection of the best alternative, and aids in prioritization. This paper discusses techniques of cost-benefit analysis, the components of transportation cost, road user cost, and the economic analysis of the projects selected for study. Economic costs are discussed. The aspects covered here include design, traffic data, projects detail of the schemes, and the alternatives considered for economic analysis. The results are discussed, and conclusions and recommendations are presented.
