Abstract Matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry and electrospray tandem mass spectrometry, coupled with liquid chromatography, enable high‐throughput protein identification and further characterization, such as post‐translational modification, of proteins, after initial separation by two‐dimensional gel electrophoresis.
