Abstract

A screen house study was undertaken to see the efficacy of pesticides, organic cakes and bioagents as seed dressing against root-knot nematode, M.incognita infecting cowpea. The seeds of susceptible cowpea variety Pusa Komal were treated with Pseudomonas fluorescens @ 10 g/kg, Trichoderma viride @ 4g/kg, neem seed kernel poweder @ 10% (w/w), Jatropha seed kernel poweder @10% (w/w), carbosulfan 25 (DS) @ 3% (w/w) and cartap hydrochloride 50 (SP) @ 1.5% (w/w) before sowing and subsequently root - knot neamatode inoculation @ 2J2/g of soil was done after 10 days of germination. The results indicated that the growth parameters of cowpea plants were higher and root–knot nematode (M.incognita) population were reduced in all the treatments when compared to inoculated control.
