Abstract
Reliability and power quality are more important today than they have ever been for electricity and electric appliances' providers, and electricity consumers. At the same time, the electric power industry around the world copes with reorganization, cost cutting, competition, and changes in regulatory structure. This paper presents the main problems of reliability and power quality assessment and improvement facing the Polish electric power sector in this "new" era. The Polish electric power system is briefly described and tasks of power quality and reliability assessment and improvement are listed.
