Abstract

We present a pseudo two-dimensional LMS adaptive equalizer to eliminate both intersymbol interference (ISI) and intertrack interference (ITI) in a multi-track magnetic recording system. This structure is suitable for multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) requirement, due to its reduced complexity compared with a previous 2-D equalizer structure. The computer simulation result shows that the performance of this equalizer is comparable to the 2-D equalizer.
