Abstract

The paper describes the basic theory of the linear equalizer and the decision-feedback equalizer. When the channel characteristics are known, simulate them through linear equalization and decision-feedback equalization. The performance lines and the optimum tap coefficients of equalizer can be achieved. Then the results are analyzed and compared in order to design the applicable linear equalizer or decision-feedback equalizer. The methods and results are valuable to equalizer design in engineering.
