Abstract

A single bit 5th order complex continuous-time sigma-delta IF-to-baseband modulator with integrated mixer and switched-capacitor (SC) feedback DAC for AM/FM/IBOC car radio receiver is presented. The input intermediate frequency (IF) is 10.7MHz and the sampling frequency is 41.7MHz. In AM mode (3kHz BW) the achieved dynamic range is 110dB. In FM mode (200 kHz BW) the achieved dynamic range is 90dB. For IBOC (in-band on-channel) reception the SFDR is greater than 70dB in a 500 kHz BW. The IM3 distance is 85dB and the IM2 distance is 90dB. This modulator is implemented in a IP 5M 0.18mum CMOS process with an active area of 3.6 mm2. It consumes 190mW from a 1.8V supply
