Abstract
A study was conducted in Maharashtra, India during 2001-02 to determine the response of potato cultivars (HPS-II/67, Kufri Jyoti and S-1) to different nutritional management options. Treatments comprised: 100% recommended dose of fertilizers (RDF; 120:60:120 kg NPK/ha), 100% RDF + 5 t farmyard manure (FYM)/ha, 100% RDF + FYM + biofertilizers (Azospirillum and Acetobacter), 75% RDF + FYM + biofertilizers, and 50% RDF + FYM + biofertilizers. Kufri Jyoti was significantly superior to the other cultivars in terms of plant height (56.5 cm), dry matter per plant (74.1 g) and tuber yield (173.8 q/ha). HPS-II/67 was the most superior in terms of large-size tuber production (34.6 q/ha). Among the treatments, 100% RDF + FYM + biofertilizers resulted in the highest total dry matter production per plant (69.7 g), plant height (54.9 cm) and tuber weight per plant (285.6 g).
