Abstract
Data integration is the kernel matter of information systems. Metadata describes the data structure and object of the data warehouse. The paper systemically analyzes the functions of metadata management in founding a data warehouse and implementing information integration. The some software tools and technique of metadata management are summarized and discussed. A new design approach and implementation of the metadata management system are presented. Finally, a sort of configuration of information integration systems is proposed.
