Abstract

After numerical simulation experiment of typhoon 0601 (the Typhoon Pearl) has been carried out with a barotropic primitive model, its adjoint model was developed and employed to study the sensitivity of landing typhoon intensity to the initial value and terrain. It’s shown that the intensity of landing typhoon center is influenced by the intensity of typhoon center and its peripheral circulation in the initial value; the higher the terrain of landing area and Taiwan Island, the weaker the intensity of the landing typhoon center, but it may not be the case in other area influenced by the landing typhoon circulation.
