Abstract
Objective To explore the relationship between serum homocysteine(Hcy) and microalbuminuria levels in elderly patients with essential hypertension(EH)and effects of folic acid and so on.Methods Seventy-six elderly patients with EH(EH group) and 20 normal cases(control group)were selected,serum levels of Hcy,folic acid,VitB12 and urinary albumin(uAlb),β2-microglobulin(β2-MG),urinary immunoglobulin(IgG) were measured,the relationship among which were analyzed.The EH group were treated with folic acid,VitB6 and VitB12 for 16 weeks,then the above-mentioned parameters were measured again.Results The serum Hcy and uAlb levels in EH group were higher than those in the control group(P0.05,0.01) and showed positive relationship(r=0.678,P0.05).While the serum levels of folic acid,VitB6,VitB12 in the EH group were lower than those in the control group(P0.05,0.01).The serum Hcy and microalbuminuria level in EH group decreased significantly after combination treatment of folic acid,VitB6,VitB12.Conclusion The serum Hcy levels in elderly patients with EH is closely related to the early renal injury,treatment by folic acid and so on is useful.
