Abstract

An investigation of a 1/15-scale model of the Convair B-58 airplane weapons system has been conducted in the Langley 16-foot transonic tunnel.The Convair B-58 airplane has been designed for a long-range subsonic cruise and a supersonic dash.The principles of the area rule were applied in the design.The Mach number range of the investigation was from 0.80 to 1.12 and the Reynolds number range was from 9.8 X 10 6 to 10.4 X 10 6 based on the wing mean aerodynamic chord.The angle-of-attack range was generally from about -50 to 50 and the elevons were not deflected for this investigation.•
