Abstract
It is hard to analyze theoretically that the theoretical research of the behavior characteristics of single pile and group piles under lateral loads contains a lot of problem due to several ambiguous elements; intervening efficiency with correlated piles, ambiguity of boundary condition between pile-soil-pile, inhomogeneous ground, movement of fine soil according to the ground water fluctuation, and so on. In addition, the research of behavior characteristic through the field test is hard to be carried out due to the expensive experiment cost and variation of ground condition. Therefore, the necessity of model test is on the increase because performing it is able to solve these problem, probate the analytical result, and evaluate the interaction between pile and ground quantitatively under various circumstances. In this study, on group piles under repeated lateral loads, it was examined that both behavior characteristic and change in efficiency through a model test. Secondly, it was considered that the behavior characteristics of group piles which were appeared when the pile arrangement, space ratio, and relative density were changed at the load step which is not affected by repeated load. Finally, it was presented that reasonable, and economical arrangement interval of group piles which could be applied to design as well as construction of group pile foundation.
