Abstract
The technology of bioremediation becomes a new area of research with features of low cost, high efficiency, no second pollution and wide applicability. This paper, based on the conception of bioremediation and the situation of soils contaminated by heavy metals, reviews the general principles, methods and the researches related with phytoremediation and microbial remediation for soils contaminated by heavy metals. It is shown that the researches are still at the test development stage, with focuses on hyperaccumlators remediation mechanisms, soil conditioners and bio adsorbents, improvement of biological properties of hyperaccumlators, construction of micro-organisms with genetically engineered bacteria, joint remediation based on generalized remediation as its core technology, and indicator systems. It is anticipated that bioremediation will make great progress in near future.
