Abstract
Truck weight data is collected for a variety of purposes by almost all highway authorities. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and the Washington State Transportation Center (TRAC) are currently investigating existing weigh-in-motion (WIM) technologies for use in a comprehensive, low cost truck weight data collection program. This paper proposes an ideal truck weight monitoring plan, based on the needs of pavement designers and the potential capabilities of the emerging truck WIM technologies.
