Abstract
A growing interest in European countries to promote cycling and walking in urban areas increase the demand for examples for good practice to promote and secure bicycle and pedestrian traffic. As a part of the European research project ADONIS (analysis and development of new insight into substitution of short car trips by cycling and walking) a catalogue, Best Practice to Promote Cycling and Walking, presenting more than 100 examples from Denmark, the Netherlands, Spain and Belgium has been worked out. This paper deals with examples of best practice to promote cycling and walking together with information about the catalogue on the whole.
