Abstract
The mechanism of hemorrhagic syndrome during acute radiation injury is analyzed, and published data are reviewed. The most pronounced changes are observed in the blood coagulating system, caused by a deficiency in the 3rd plate factor. The basic prothrombine mass does not change into thrombine, which is necessary in producing fibrin. Moreover, ionizing radiation changes the quality and structure of thrombocytes. The experiments confirm the importance of thrombocytes in hemorrhaging. An extensive reference list is included. (R.V.J.) MEDICINE
