Abstract
The laboratory investigations on the efficacy of different insecticides against the cigarette beetle, Lasioderma serricorne Fabricius revealed that dichlorvos 0.1%, malathion 0.05% and all the neem products tested proved their superiority over other insecticides in inducing higher mortalities of both adults and grubs. The nematode formulation and microbial insecticide (Bacillus Ihuringiensis var. tenebrionis) proved to be least effective against grubs and adults. It is concluded that dichlorvos 0.1%, malathion 0.05% and the neem products may be recommended for checking L. serricorne in tobacco godowns.
