Studies on flowering behaviour in cashew.

An experiment was conducted to study the flowering behaviour in cashew at Bastar region of Chhattisgarh. The flower bud differentiation in cashew occured between October-November and extended nearly by two to three months. The duration of flowering in different varieties ranged from 48 to 93 days. An early flower bud differentiation and flower bud initiation were noted in hybrid-303 and Vridhachalam-1. The hybrid 30/1 produced highest total number of flowers (1472.00 and 2842.75) and staminate flowers (1195.72 and 2274.17) per panicle in both the years. Whereas, hybrid-255 recorded the maximum number of hermaphrodite flowers (337.60 and 613.00) per panicle. The highest percentage of hermaphrodite flowers was noted in hybrid-3/28 (23.08 and 23.37), Vridhachalam-2 (23.31 and 31.08) and hybrid-255 (22.98 and 23.68).
