Clinical research of central obesity treated with acupuncture, cupping and auricular therapy.

Objective To probe into the clinical efficacy on central obesity treated with acupuncture,cupping and auricular therapy.Methods 92 cases were randomly divided into two groups,in which,44 cases in control group(medication group)and 48 cases in acupuncture,cupping and auricular therapy group(treatment group).In medication group,sibutramine was administered orally.In treatment group,acupuncture was applied on Zhongwan(CV12),Guanyuan(CV4)and Tianshu(ST25),in combination with cupping along the Governor Vessel and the bladder meridian of foot-taiyang on the back,and auricular therapy.At the end of three courses of treatment,body weight,BMI,waist,hip and the waist-hip ratio as well as F% were observed.Results The total effective rate was 87.5% in treatment group,without significant difference indicated in comparison with medication group.Every index observed in two groups was reduced significantly compared with that before the treatment(P0.05,P0.01).Conclusion Acupuncture,cupping and auricular therapy in combination has a definite therapeutic effect on central obesity and it is an ideal therapy without toxic side effect compared with oral medication and good compliance for patients.
