Abstract
This article briefly discusses how rapidly developing visual communication media technologies, such as computerized television, three-dimensional video, interactive television, high definition television, etc. hinder rather than enhance viewers perceptual processes, understanding, and aesthetic appreciation of visual messages presented using such technologies. It is suggested that visual communication media researchers should reach out and cooperate with the developers of these technologies long before they reach the market.
