Abstract

Present knowledge on the magnetic field of celestialbodies in briefly reviewed.Theoretic results on the interaction of the solar wind and its frozeninmagnetic field with the geomagnetic field are presented. Satellite measurementswithin and outside t h e magnetosphere are then discussed: agreementwith theoretical results is quite good.
