A Review of the Top Level Forum "Humanities and Aesthetic Education in the 21st Century"

Sponsored by the Institute of Art Education of Hangzhou Normal University and the Faculty of of Zhejiang University, the top level forum Humanities and Aesthetic Education in the 21st Century was held in Hangzhou from November 25 to 27, 2011. More than thirty distinguished scholars and experts both from home and abroad attended the meeting. Focusing on the central topic of Humanities and Aesthetic Education, they discussed and exchanged ideas on a series of issues such as the humanistic and scientific dimension of aesthetic education, the actual effect of aesthetic education and aesthetic utopia, enlightenment context and modernity construction of Chinese culture, postmodern cultural transcendence and breakthrough, aesthetic education and contemporary Chinese intellectual situation, and reflection on aesthetic educational in cultural relativism. They also made some explorations in terms of the opportunities and challenges that aesthetic education is facing.
