Abstract
120 women 19-35 years old received Lyndiol (5 mg lynestrenol and .15 mg ethinyl estradiol) daily for 3 out of every 4 weeks for a total of 876 woman-months of use. The withdrawal rate was 23% with 10% withdrawing because of side effects including nausea amenorrhea dysmenorrhea weight gain headache pain and vaginal discharge. Breakthrough bleeding occurred only once during the experiment. 1 pregnancy was reported in a case in which the woman did not take the pills properly. It was concluded that Lyndiol is an effective contraceptive with minimal side effects and very good patient acceptance.
