Abstract

Use of the selective irreversible monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors clorgyline and (-)-deprenyl (selegiline) have allowed the distribution and specificities of the two forms of the enzyme, MAO-A and MAO-B, to be determined in a number of tissues and species (for reviews, see Fowler and Tipton, 1984; Tipton, 1986). The distributions and specificities of MAO-A and -B in a number of human tissue homogenates are surrmarised in Table 1. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
