Abstract
Aim To study the effects of praziquantel treatment on the level of Helicobacter pylori(Hp) antibody in patients infected Schistosoma japonicum. Methods The whole cell antigen of Hp was used to detect the Hp IgG antibody in 94 cases of sera from the patients before and after praziquantel treatment. Results The positive Hp infection rate was 73.4% and 70.2% respectively (75.5% before treatment) after treatment for 3 and 6 months. The level of Hp IgG was 0.71±0.30 and 0.65±0.21(0.80±0.23 before treatment)respectively. The Hp positive rate and the level of Hp IgG declined with the process of treatment in all age groups, but the Hp IgG level dropped the most quickly in the age group of 0~20.The level and the dropped value of Hp IgG were related to that of Sj31/32 IgG(0.85 and 0.65,0.80 and 0.50 after treatment for 3 and 6 months). Conclusion The results indicated that the praziquantel treatment can reduce the positive rate and the level of Hp IgG in patients of Schistosoma japonicum. There was a significant correlation between Schistosoma japonicum and Hp infection.Schistosoma japonicum might be one of the risk factors of Hp infection.
