Abstract

This article describes Boston's Central Artery/Tunnel Project, a $7.7 billion highway construction initiative which captures a broad set of intelligent vehicle highway system (IVHS) functions. It includes Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), Advanced Traveler Information Systems ( ATIS), Advanced Vehicle Control Systems (AVCS) Advanced Public Transportation Systems (APTS), and Commercial Vehicle Operations (CVO), and is scheduled for completion by 2004
